Please refer to our other auctions. Offered is an authentic silver winner's medal originally presented at the 1988 summer Olympic Games in Seoul, Korea. This important medal remains in beautifully preserved condition overall, its magnificent design elements retaining crisp detail that is beautifully accentuated by a charcoal-like patina effect in the protected areas. Glistening with mint luster throughout, the pristine surfaces remain original as struck, as when originally awarded to the medal-performing recipient over 20 years ago.  There is no stamping along the edge that indicates to whom the medal was awarded, leading us to believe it most likely served as an emergency spare/extra from the Games. The proper textured field surrounding the dove on the reverse helps to insure its authenticity, and the medal was obtained from a long-time and well-respected Olympic collector (whose credentials are purported to include past involvent with the IOC) by the consigning party of this collection. Another well-respected medal specialist (and published author on the subject of collecting Olympic medals and memorabilia) also supports its authenticity. Diameter: 60 mmWeight: 150 grams (5.30 oz.) This medal is accompanied by its original presentation case which itself is fully functional and remains in an exceptional state of preservation.
